The Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies

Sssssssssssup fellas.

Here's a super-cool article that features a super-green building from Era Hijau 1# 2008 that I grabbed at the previous HSE Week 09 stalls. The article was written by Tengku Hanidza Tengku Ismail and Era Hijau is published by Jabatan Alam Sekitar Malaysia. Kids, swap your utopias and krekos for a copy of this super-green mag okayh.

The Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies is located on the Oberlin College campus in Oberlin, Ohio. It's basically an institute where they do researches on how to reduce the damages done on the environment. And from the super-green features they have on their classroom buildings, I'm pretty sure these guys are on the right track on helping mother nature.

The building was designed from it's inside out (the roof, the landscape, the interior, the sun plaza, the lighting and the pond) to serve as the most environmental freindly building ever existed. You guys can, matter fact, should, click on the article above to get a larger view of the page and take a look at the layout of the building. Stunning.

The "Living Machine"

Another research from The Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies that attracted me was the "Living Machine". It brags on imitating the concept of natural purification system at ponds and lakes. The system is mainly used to recycle the water used in the building's toilet. You flush your waste down the bowl and then the water is purified back to it's initial colorless state and sent back to the toilet. Genius right? I know it sounds a lil disgusting right there but hey, if I can't spot the difference and the water looks fresh and new, I'm cool on using that water. =P

I hope one day we'll be able to see every building on this earth using AJLC's environmental friendly system. For more on this, you can head to http://www.oberlin.edu/ajlc.

And owh, dont forget to recycle whenever you can aite. =P

from soil to trash

it's another fantastic weekend here at my house... i woke up late ( which is not that healthy) feeling groggy and strutting lazily to the fridge for a drink.... what can i do... i am thirsty... so, i was almost there on my fridge and OMG!!!! there's trash everywhere man... including in front of the fridge... man, that's a nasty way to be jolted out of grogginess... disgusted, i went to my room to get showered and go to the cafe to buy a new drink...

i think one of the major problem is that there is no recycle bin readily available in every block.... i understand that recycle bins are available at cafes, which from my point of view is quite far from some residential areas such as my house... also, most people are lazy... i mean, who would want to go to the cafe with their Sunday lazy clothes to throw garbage? i know i wouldn't... if there were pretty ladies id be under prepared in terms of my dressing code... if there was one, i think it would do Mother Nature a big favor.... just think of all the plastics, aluminum cans and unused paper the students throw away to the garbage can were recycled....

Think about it

It's getting hot in here!

hello there! i am very much a person who views nature as a form of art... beautiful and gives different interpretation to different people... that is art rite? it would sadden me if this piece of art could not last for as long as i live, let alone be destroyed that my kins wouldn't be able to enjoy.... so, forgive me if all i am talking about is nature bores you, the readers... as i would like to do my part in doodlin a greener earth...

i never believed in changing the world as a whole which often has the starting effort however yields nothing... i start small, from utp otherwise my personal self... i normally go for an evening walk around up lake... the wind so strong it blew kites so high the kites looked like ants... the fishes in the lake swimming around joyfully... the lake and the orange dusk sun to adorn.... no amount of beauty can match the God given earth....

in my walks around the lake, i notice that the sprinklers are always turned on.... from dawn till dusk, the sprinkers are always twirling around showering life giving water to the grass... the sprinklers however never was moved or so i thought... because if u looked carefully, patches of brown and green can be seen, bespeaking some of the grass are dying of thirst... and mud patches can be seen, as a result of over watering... we are not growing paddies here right? so, why so much water? grass could die in the patches of water...

though i have heard rumors that utp water is supplied directly from the lake, which one could say that utp is not wasting waters, the pumps used to pump water would consume a lot of energy namely electrical energy which is one of the large contributors to global warming which in turn mealts the ice and kills living things because of the heat... though a thousand steps may be needed to cool the earth back, why not we start the first step... use a better water sprinkler system or a timed sprinkler to reduce unnecessary wastage of power...

remember cooler earth means less sweaty people stinky people too and thats good for everyone... so lets start now... buhbye!

P/S: i would try to write about health and safety in utp...

A Fresh Start

Ssssssup brah!!

Welcome to Green Doodles!! Our cool green lookin' blog where we doodle our thoughts on nature, humanity and anything green. We may not as individuals pick green as our favorite color, we may have sometimes forgot to recycle our cans, papers, and bottles, we may have somtimes pushed aside our vegies in our meals, we may not seem green from the outside but trust me, our hearts are totally green. You know WHY? Because we really care for this earth. Yeah, sounds kinda cheesy but we really mean it and we'd be pleased and honored if given any opportunity to help mother nature in any way we can. So, here we are; Waktang, Awang, Is, Naila, and Uyun; the five doodlers of Green Doodles doodlin' the internet to doodle the earth greener.

And owh, remember to recycle whenever you can. Them ladies find it sexxxay!! =)
